About the Australian Graduate Survey (AGS)
Graduate Careers Australia (GCA) wishes to acknowledge with thanks the continuing support of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) in the production of this website and its related survey reports.

Each year in April and October, GCA surveys university graduates as part of the Australian Graduate Survey (AGS). Graduates are asked whether or not they are employed full-time or part-time and, if so, their salary and main occupation. At the same time they are asked if they are still seeking employment, in further study, or are unavailable for either. The survey also asks graduates about their opinions of their course of study. If you would like to see a copy of a sample survey questionnaire, please click here. Please note: You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader software to view the questionnaire. If you don't already have it, it is downloadable free of charge at www.adobe.com.

A number of reports (listed below) are published from the information gathered from this survey. At the moment, the information on GradsOnline is drawn from the first three reports on the list only (Graduate Destinations, Graduate Salaries and Post Graduate Destinations). The data currently displayed are derived from the 2007 Graduate Destination Survey of graduates who completed their courses in 2006.

Graduate Destinations report (GD)
The GD is Australia's official annual review of the activities of university graduates who are surveyed four months after course completion. This report covers all graduates of Bachelor degrees who are Australian citizens or permanent residents, and results for the current year correspond to the information within the degree level "Bachelor All" on this website.

Graduate Salaries report (GS)
This report examines the earnings of Bachelor degree graduates under the age of 25, who are in their first full-time employment.

Postgraduate Destinations report (PD)
This report is an extension of Graduate Destinations which provides details of those graduating with Graduate Certificates/Diplomas, Masters Coursework and Research degrees and PhD degrees. Results for the current year correspond to the information within the "Grad Cert/Dip", "Masters Coursework" and "Masters Research/PhD" degree levels on this website.

Grads, Jobs and Dollars report (GJD)
This report is an extension of the GD and GS reports, providing a more in-depth look at the outcomes of bachelor degree graduates. The information is broken down by field of study, state of study and institution of study.

Graduate Course Experience report (GCE)
The GCE is based on the results from the Course Experience Questionnaire (CEQ) and reports on the attitudes of graduates towards their courses and the skills they acquired whilst studying.

Postgraduate Research Experience report (PRE)
The PRE is based on the results from the Postgraduate Research Experience Questionnaire (PREQ) and reports on the attitudes of graduates towards their research and the skills they acquired whilst studying.
